The Bills' defense will be shorthanded for a while as Paul Posluszny sits out with a broken left arm. The standout middle linebacker broke it in the second quarter of the Bills' 25-24 loss to the Patriots on Monday night.
Posluszny told reporters that he has been told by doctors that it will require surgery, yet he will not be out for the season and won't be placed on injured reserve. With him gone, undersized Marcus Buggs could get the start. The presumed backup middle linebacker in the offseason was John DiGiorgio, but he was placed on injured reserve before the season.
This isn't the first time the third-year linebacker has been sidelined with a broken arm. Posluszny fractured his left forearm in his rookie season of 2007, which ended his debut campaign after three games.
Starting DE Chris Kelsay suffered a knee injury, and coach Dick Jauron said he should know by Wednesday what his prognosis is.
