The Giants have ruled out CB Aaron Ross officially for Sunday when the Giants host the Redskins. He suffered a hamstring injury and hasn't progressed the way the team had hoped.
Reserve CB Kevin Dockery also has a hamstirng injury, and though he was confident he could test it again Sunday morning and play, he was listed on the team's injury report as questionable.
If both are out, that could mean Terrell Thomas will get the start opposite Corey Webster. And that also would mean that undrafted rookie Bruce Johnson would play a far bigger role in his first NFL game than expected. Johnson was better than two seventh-round picks, DeAndre Wright and Stoney Woodson, and head coach Tom Coughlin didn't appear to be too concerned if Johnson was asked to step up.
“He is ready,” Coughlin said. “He has not missed a thing, he has been here every second.”
