The Seahawks' signing of local product Lawyer Milloy was the team's most notable newsbreaker on an action-packed Saturday in which 23 players were removed from the roster. Milloy, a Tacoma native who played at the University of Washington, played for the Falcons the last three seasons and is expected to replace Brian Russell, the team's starting free safety the last two seasons whose contract was terminated. The terms of Milloy's contract were not disclosed.
In other major moves, the team placed starting CB Marcus Trufant on the Physically Unable to Perform List, terminated the contract of veteran LB D.D. Lewis and opted to keep holdover PK Olindo Mare at the expense of Brandon Coutu, who was released.
Also released were S Jamar Adams, DE Baraka Atkins, OG Brian De La Puente, CB Marquis Floyd, OT Na'Shan Goddard, S Courtney Greene, WR Mike Hass, CB Kevin Hobbs, FB David Kirtman, RB Devin Moore, CB Nate Ness, TE Joe Newtion, WR Logan Payne, LB Dave Philistin, OT Andre Ramsey, OT William Robinson, QB Jeff Rowe and WR Courtney Taylor.
The team also terminated the contract of OL Cory Withrow from the reserve-injured list with a settlement.
