Some things don’t change. Third-year WR Brandon Rideau, no stranger to being on the Bears’ roster bubble, once again failed to make the team’s final 53-man roster. After fighting a losing battle against veteran Rashied Davis and Devin Aromashodu for a roster spot, Rideau was among the 16 players waived by the Bears Saturday.
In addition, the Bears placed RB Kevin Jones, who tore ligaments in his left ankle in the Bears’ final preseason game; 2009 fourth-round rookie DE Henry Melton; and S Dahna Deleston on the reserve/injured list and terminated the contracts of OG Dan Buenning, CB Rod Hood and LB/special-teamer Darrell McClover.
The other players waived besides Rideau were OG Johan Asiata, DE Ervin Baldwin, OT Cody Balogh, QB Brett Basanez, CB Rudy Burgess, DE Joe Clermond, FB Jason Davis, LB Marcus Freeman, CB Marcus Hamilton, LB Kevin Malast, WR Eric Peterman, C Donovan Raiola, LB Mike Rivera, FB Will Ta’uof’ou and CB Woodny Turenne.
