The Panthers placed rookie DT Corvey Irvin on injured reserve Saturday as they trimmed their roster to 51 players, two below the maximum.
"We have two spots open that we can fill if the right people come across (the waiver wire)," general manager Marty Hurney said Saturday. Teams have until noon EDT Sunday to submit waiver claims.
Irvin, who suffered a knee injury in the final exhibition game, joins Maake Kemoeatu as the second Panthers defensive tackle to be placed on I.R. in the preseason.
