After missing all of the Seahawks’ spring minicamps while on the mend from the season-ending dislocated kneecap he suffered last October while still with the Lions, Cory Redding’s exact role with his new team was far from clear heading into training camp. But that’s not the case anymore, with the 6-4, 292-pound Redding quickly taking hold of the starting left end job on first and second downs, and Patrick Kerney moving from the left side to the right side, where he will have more one-on-one opportunities rushing the passer. “It makes so much sense, with the whole D-line getting bigger across the board as a result,” one daily team observer said. “Redding has been unblockable in pass-rush drills — he tossed away (starting OT) Sean Locklear like a rag doll on one occasion — and his toughness and tenacity have been off the charts. He also couldn’t be happier to get away from Detroit.”
