Two former star linebackers have made waves recently with public comments regarding their openness to return to New England. Both OLB Willie McGinest, 37, and ILB Junior Seau, 40, have at least acknowledged the possibility that they’re willing to delay retirement, and New England appears to be the most likely — and possibly only — destination for both. But it’s also clear that neither player nor the club has imminent plans for a reunion. McGinest, being three years younger than Seau and playing a position at which the Patriots are thinner, is the more likely of the duo to sign, but even he would be unlikely to come aboard until Bill Belichick is convinced he needs reinforcement on the outside. Seau, who appeared in four games for the Pats late in 2008, would again come into the picture late in the season if injuries or ineffectiveness plague the team's inside linebackers.
