The Giants have signed two draft picks, third-round WR Ramses Barden and fifth-round QB Rhett Bomar.
The clear roster space, the team released TE George Wrighster and OL Mike Fladell. Wrighster had been signed from the Jaguars, where he started seven games a year ago.
Barden, chosen 85th overall, set Football Championship Subdivision career records with a touchdown reception in 32 games and with at least one in 20 consecutive contests, breaking the previous records of at least one score in 17 straight contests and in 26 games by Jerry Rice of Mississippi Valley State from 1981-84.
Bomar, the former Oklahoma quarterback who transferred to Sam Houston State, will battle with Andre’ Woodson for the third QB spot.
The Giants now have four signed picks, including CBs DeAndre Wright (sixth-round pick) and Stoney Woodson (seventh).
