Sometimes it pays to be irrelevant.
The Chiefs announced Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with PK Ryan Succop, the 256th and final pick of the 2009 draft, also referred to as "Mr. Irrelevant." According to reports, the deal is for three years and $1.2 million.
Succop appeared in 50 games at South Carolina, making 49-of-69 field-goal attempts and scoring 251 points. He also had 69 touchbacks on 192 kickoffs.
Succop is expected to compete with Connor Barth in training camp for Kansas City's placekicking duties. Although Barth converted 10-of-12 field goals as an undrafted rookie last season, he was just 1-for-2 from 40 yards and beyond.
